Inks

Adding wax emulsion to water-based ink systems can effectively improve the surface scratch resistance and wear resistance of printed products, provide anti-blocking properties, and impart a full, smooth feel to the paint film. A uniform and fine particle size distribution can give the ink good gloss and excellent hiding power.

Principle of wax emulsion for water-based ink printing:
Special wax emulsion for ink migrates to the ink surface during film formation and disperses evenly to form a wax protective layer, thereby improving the surface performance of the ink. As the amount of wax emulsion added increases, the wax protective layer formed on the ink surface can improve the smoothness of paper products, reduce the friction coefficient, and significantly decrease the abrasion loss of the ink. When the addition amount exceeds 5%, the gaps between spherical wax particles on the surface are reduced, and further increasing the dosage has no obvious effect.

The quality of ink viscosity control directly affects pigment transfer, plate clogging, glossiness of printed products, adhesion strength of the ink layer, electrostatic repulsion, and is closely related to the majority of quality issues. It significantly impacts the yield of printed products and production efficiency. To effectively address viscosity-related problems during the ink printing process, adding 1%–3% wax emulsion to the ink can alter its fluidity, reduce the system's viscosity, and simultaneously enhance the ink's smoothness, abrasion resistance, and scratch resistance. It also improves water resistance, accelerates setting, ensures complete dot reproduction, reduces issues such as caking, linting, and smudging, and enhances the overall printability of the ink.
