Significance and Methods of Spinneret Cleaning

The spinneret is a key component of meltblown fabric production equipment. In the melt spinning process, polypropylene pellets enter the spinning machine, are heated and melted into a melt. The melt is then pumped into the spinneret by a spinning pump, and under a certain pressure, flows out through the small holes of the spinneret to form liquid filaments. As these filaments exit the spinning channel, they come into contact with air, undergo heat exchange, cool, and solidify into初生 fibers. In this process, the spinneret functions to transform the viscous polymer melt or solution into filaments of specific cross-sectional shapes through its microholes, which then solidify into fine fibers via a coagulation medium such as air or a coagulation bath. Thus, the spinneret is a fundamental device determining the quality of meltblown fabric.

As the core component of meltblown equipment, the spinneret has melt flowing through its microholes every minute. If the microholes are not properly cleaned, inconsistencies in hole diameter may occur, affecting the uniformity of meltblown fabric fibers and leading to quality issues such as non-compliance. So, how should the spinneret be cleaned correctly?

There are two effective methods for cleaning spinnerets:

1. High-Temperature Calcination of Spinnerets
High-temperature calcination requires vacuum calcination furnace equipment. This method combines vacuum conditions with high temperatures to effectively remove polymer residues from the spinneret. It avoids combustion, smoke generation, and potential wear or corrosion that may occur with chemical reagent cleaning. The disadvantage is high cost; however, many companies now offer professional cleaning services. Outsourcing cleaning is a convenient and efficient alternative to purchasing equipment.

2. Using Organic Solvents to Dissolve Residual Polypropylene
This method features low cost and easy operation but may corrode or abrade the spinneret, causing damage and uneven hole diameters. Use with caution.
