Water-based Wax Emulsion - Enhancing Leather's Waxiness and Glossiness
Water-based wax emulsion is a wear-resistant and scratch-resistant wax emulsion that can improve hand feel. It can enhance scratch resistance and wear resistance, ensuring a long-lasting smooth hand feel of the paint film, while having good transparency without affecting leveling and transparency.
As a hand-feel material, leather wax is generally made into an oil-in-water wax emulsion. Leather hand-feel wax paste is used in the top, middle and bottom coating of leather. When used in the top coating, the leather surface will produce a moisturizing waxy feel or a greasy and smooth hand feel, with a certain sweat-absorbing and slightly sticky sensation. In the middle coating, although the impact of hand-feel wax on the leather hand feel is not as great as that on the bottom layer, it can prevent sticking to the board when the leather is ironed. In the bottom coating, in addition to covering, the more important role of hand-feel wax is to improve the hand feel of the grain surface of the finished leather, prevent excessive penetration of resin in the coating agent from hardening the leather hand feel, and at the same time have a slight fatliquoring effect on the leather, making the overall vision and hand feel of the leather better.
Water-based wax emulsions are incorporated into the formulations of surface coatings for both artificial leather and genuine leather. For leather applications, modified polyethylene wax emulsions are typically used. After film formation, water-based wax emulsions exhibit excellent transparency and do not interfere with the leveling property of leather coatings during application. In contrast, water-based wax pastes are primarily used in solvent-based wood coatings, plastic coatings, printing inks, and varnishes.
Leather water-based wax emulsion is an odorless, non-toxic, non-corrosive white emulsion with excellent acid and alkali resistance, boasting remarkable performance characteristics.
- When added to leather coatings, water-based wax emulsion enhances the waxy feel and gloss of leather; when incorporated into color pastes, it improves leveling and prevents preheating stickiness of the coating.
- Water-based wax emulsion is applied in water-based coating systems, as well as in polishes and gloss oils for floors, leather, furniture, automobiles, and other products. In the paper industry, it replaces rosin size, improving paper quality while reducing production costs.
