What are the Roles of Emulsified Wax in Textiles?

Textile emulsified wax is a finishing agent used for yarn finishing and post-textile finishing, and is widely used in the textile industry.

Qihong emulsified wax has excellent properties such as acid resistance, alkali resistance, hard water resistance, strong water solubility, stable emulsion, dilutable with water in any proportion without delamination, no demulsification, no agglomeration, long shelf life, high solid content, and good dispersibility.

Yarn finishing involves applying this product to finished yarns. This treatment can produce high gloss, deeper and brighter colors, as well as higher elasticity and tensile strength. In post-finishing, it is mainly used as an important component of textile post-finishing agents to impart textiles excellent soft hand feel, good smoothness and gloss.

Textile emulsified wax is also commonly used in the production of leather finishing agents, water-based varnishes, water-based paints, water-based coatings, plastic and rubber smoothing agents, etc. In textile mills, post-waxing is a commonly used sizing process, especially when weaving high-grade fabrics. The sizing rate is generally high, and the sizing film is hard and brittle. The post-waxing process can increase the flexibility and wear resistance of the sizing film, and prevent the destruction of the sizing structure caused by the addition of softeners in the sizing solution. The main purpose of post-waxing is to increase the smoothness and antistatic properties of the sized yarn, making the sized yarn feel smooth, reducing the friction coefficient and falling debris, facilitating clear shedding, reducing breakages, and improving loom efficiency. This is particularly important for synthetic fibers, high-count and high-density pure cotton fabrics, and shuttleless looms. Appropriately increasing the waxing amount can reduce the friction coefficient of the sized yarn against machine parts; however, if the amount is too high, it will cause the sized yarn to easily accumulate flying flowers, affecting the automatic stop function for breakages and causing weaving defects. Waxing can reduce the accumulation of static charges on the yarn, which is beneficial for clear shedding. However, it must be noted that during the sizing process, raw wax should not be directly added to the wax tank to prevent unmelted wax blocks from contaminating the warp yarns with the waxing roller, resulting in excessive waxing and affecting the subsequent processing and coloring of the fabric.
